The WHY of Leather

Why leather when look alikes are around? What's the real deal ? Why do people buy anything that has a suffix of leather? Faux (Leather) Apple (Leather) Banana (Leather)

Have we come across anything Synthetic Wood? Artificial Cotton? Faux Silk? Hey you can't even call Milk alternatives as Milk anymore now.

It's a crime to use deceptive terms . But Leather ( Dictionary definition ) has been mis-used for decades ever since the alternatives, look alike materials came into being.

Well we can never stop evolution. And that's indeed a great thing that drives us forward. Everything gets better with time. Things get replaced and new innovations take the lead. Nothing to be sad about it ( unless it's not coming at a hidden cost )

If someone sells furniture made out of chipboard as wooden furniture, the affected party can sue the seller. But you will never hear a shoe company, a bag retailer selling artificial material without the term leather. I bet if they use the term faux fabric, the customer will never ever buy their product.

It's because Leather earned respect for it's name over centuries. Cuero, Couro, Pelle, Leder, Pellami ( Chinese ) all these terms have been used over centuries and everyone knows where do the skins comes from, yes you guessed it right ANIMALS !
